Publishing and Content Expo in Berlin as the international industry meeting place
On 8 and 9 October 2019 the 49th edition of the IFRA World Publishing Expo took place together with the DCX Digital Content Expo in Berlin. Once again, both exhibitions showed themselves to be the international meeting place for publishing, media and content with top quality exhibitors, visitors and programme.
The DCX Digital Content Expo and IFRA World Publishing Expo 2019 dual events were held under the keywords of Positioning and Agility. In an era of an increasingly advancing digital transformation, media and content companies are developing intensive strategies for analysing the user behaviour of their target audience as well as to find and strengthen their position in the media mix. This was clearly reflected in the offering of the exhibitors who presented clear product promises, innovative services and inspiring visions.
Quality and international character again at a high level
The IFRA World Publishing Expo covered the complete print spectrum of the publishing industry with international exhibitors from the areas of prepress, printing and postpress as well as their suppliers. Leading paper producers from all over the world as well as companies specialising in consumable materials supplemented the offering for the visitors. The exhibitors at the DCX Digital Content Expo focused on managing complex digital contents, from strategy and production up to distribution and monetisation.
Exhibitors from 45 countries expressed a high degree of satisfaction concerning the quality and international character of the visitors. Decision-makers from 58 countries travelled to Berlin. Both exhibitors and visitors were in agreement that the two exhibitions are the worldwide unique industry meeting place for publishers and content strategists. It is only there that at the same time innovations are presented, information exchanged and concrete, intensive discussions are conducted on critical industry topics. Accordingly, it does not come as a surprise that networking opportunities, such as the Guided Tours taking in different industry sectors offered during the exhibitions, though also the Berlin Publishing Night event held after the exhibition on the first day, proved to be major attractions. The top-ranking programme of the content stages included fascinating key note speeches, in-depth lectures and controversial panel discussions on all relevant topics, attracting more than 1.500 visitors.
New cooperation agreements strengthen the exhibition concept
Cooperation agreements with associations, such as Content Marketing Forum e.V., extend the relevancy of the topics of content services and content marketing, especially for those visitors to the DCX Expo who work in corporate publishing. Several hundred delegates from companies and agencies experienced solutions and visions for the production, distribution and monetisation of the wide range of contents modern consumers expect in the digital era. This set of issues will be further developed at the next Expos. The new cooperation agreements with the Fachverband Medienproduktion (media production association) and Fachverband Führungskräfte der Druckindustrie und Informationsverarbeitung (association of managers in printing and information processing) built a bridge between the IFRA Expo and DCX Expo dual events, at the first step especially in German-speaking regions. This bridge is destined to take on an international character at the next event with many additional cooperation agreements.
After the Expo is before the Expo – with a major anniversary
The next edition of the IFRA and DCX Expo events will mark a special anniversary. After several months of intensive discussions with many exhibitors, it was decided to take a break in the drupa year 2020 and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Expo on 13 and 14 October 2021 in due style. The venue will be the Arena in Berlin, concrete concepts and plans are already underway. Again in 2021 more than 2.000 trade visitors are expected who already today can look forward to many new programme formats for their discussions with the exhibitors.
